Heathcliff came to Thrushcross Grange to fetch Cathy home. Ellen wanted her to stay there, but Heathcliff insisted that Linton needed her to protect him. Not for the first time, Cathy’s tender heart over wise judgment took control.

As she packed up, Heathcliff share his thoughts with Nelly. He had asked the sexton earlier to move some ground from his Cathy’s dead body so that she’d be closer to him later than she would to Edgar. Nelly was shocked that he dared to disturb the dead, to which he returned Cathy had been disturbing him in the first place for eighteen years. She showed up to him once, but she wouldn’t appear again even once.
